The common rail distributes the high pressure fuel from the oil supply pump to the injectors and acts as accumulators. Its volume should reduce the supply pressure fluctuation of the high pressure oil pump and the pressure shock caused by the injection process of each injector, so that the pressure fluctuation in the high pressure oil rail is controlled under 5MPa. However, its volume should not be too large to ensure that the common rail has enough pressure response speed to quickly track the changes of diesel engine working conditions.
The pressure sensor, flow buffer (limiter) and pressure limiter are also installed on the high pressure common rail. The pressure sensor provides the pressure signal of the high pressure oil rail to the ECU; The flow buffer (flow limiter) ensures that the fuel supply to the injector is cut off when the fuel leakage fault occurs to the injector, and can reduce the pressure fluctuation in the common rail and high pressure tubing. The pressure limiter ensures that the pressure in the high-pressure oil rail can be discharged quickly in case of abnormal pressure.
